Nicky's is done.....

Nicky's is a new Pizzeria and Italian Restaurant located in the Northridge Shopping Center where Gino's used to be. It's a pretty nice place as pizzerias go; you could definitely eat in here and not feel uncomfortable. They have lots of booths. They even bring a couple of the booths outside for al fresco dining.

I just wanted to try a slice; I wasn't expecting to have pizza but I noticed they were open. Their slices are from a 16" pizza which is a bit dissapointing, but its only $2.

It was a pretty good slice; good enough so that I wanted to get a whole pie. The slices are from a 16" pie and they're $2.00; there's a lot of cheese on it. A few weeks later I ordered a whole pie; large with half sausage.

The 2 things that struck me when I looked at it was that it was a little small, and that there wasn't as much cheese as was on the slice. The pie was a bit wonky; I measured it at 15" x 16" so it was sort of oblong.

I'm not going to eat an entire pie anyway so in the big picture I suppose it didn't matter. They have excellent sauce,and they use good sausage. It was definitely a 4 star pizza.

I also ordered some eggplant parmesan, which comes with spaghetti, salad and garlic rolls. The portion of eggplant seemed a bit small compared to everything that came with it that I didn't really want. But I think they only charged me for a sandwich; the pie and the eggplant came to only $21.04 with tax, and the pie and the eggplant are both listed at $11.95 on the menu not including the sausage topping. So they must have only charged me like $7.95 for the eggplant.

Again, their sauce is excellent and they know what they're doing here. I tasted the eggplant and it was very good. I'll be reheating that for dinner one night this week.
