The Riverwalk Trust had their semi-annual Get Downtown party last night, and I'm not sure whether everyone just folded up early or the economy is hitting harder this year, but it just seemed like a squib. I'd had a long day and didn't feel like lugging my camera around, so there won't be much coverage. I got there at 7:30 and they had already stopped charging admission. I guess I should feel bad about getting a couple of sliders and soup samples without paying, but I really don't (it cost me 20 for the 2 drinks I would have gotten so it's not like I made out like a bandit). It felt like it was over. No Chima grilling meats. No lines for Rocco's Tacos. No Rare Girls.
There was a general lack of the usual harsh lighting that makes 35yos look 50, which probably isn't a bad thing. Since there's nothing going on in town between 8pm and 10pm I'm not sure why they end it so early.
More than anything else, I think it's a sign that we're all get tired. Tired of the bad economy, tired of nothing in the near future to give us hope. One more year. It's going to be a long one.
