Accident in Himmarshee Village

Maserati injures 6 in Downtown Fort Lauderdale

Update on this. There were a bunch of tickets issued. Not sure why there was a citation for each charge. The big update is that a felony charge has been filed, and there's a warrant out for the woman's arrest. My guess is that she's not coming back from Canada.

-------------------------------------
There have been some interesting developments. This is the ticket supposedly associated with the accident. The astounding inaccuracy of the ticket almost seems as if done on purpose:

Brousseau ticket

Notice that the address is no longer in Canada; it's a condo in Bal Harbor. Except there is no unit #, and since the women doesn't actually live there, how can anything be mailed to her or how can she be contacted? Her name is spelled wrong with 3 Ss. The address on the ticket is not the address of the accident. The accident occurred at SW 2nd Ave. Next, While there was no Drivers License, the boxes for DUI, No Drivers License are all unchecked. Injury to another? No is checked. Property Damage? No is checked. Also a seemingly impossible coincidence is that the owner of the condo, Terry Pomerantz, has his name spelled wrong on the property record (Pomerantz bailed her out of jail and is the owner of the car).

$165 is the fine.for running into 6 people on a sidewalk.

The only thing I can think of is that since there are other charges, they don't "also" include them on the ticket. But the other errors are incredible.

Here is the arrest report:

I ran into an eye-witness to the accident that occurred last weekend in front of Squiggy's in Himmarshee village. A Maserati with a Quebec license plate 'slammed" onto the sidewalk at 3am early Sunday Morning (Feb 14, 2016) and injured 6 people, including 2 brothers visiting from Toronto. The car hit a tree; another eye-witness stated that the tree saved this from being a fatal event.

One eye-witness said that the driver, a women, seemed angry, and the the car was moving at a high speed. Another account had the car "lurching" after rev'ing the engine. The woman was taken away in handcuffs.

The woman driving was Linda Brousseau from Quebec. She'd been in Broward for 1 week.

She was charged with 10 counts: DUI, 7 counts of DUI/Property Damage Bodily Injury, Driving without a license, and Failure to Use Due Care.

The report says that she took the keys from her son because he was drunk. Meanwhile she claims that she had 4 glasses of wine.

"I only had 4 glasses of wine, so I'm Driving even though I have no Drivers License"
You can't make this up. Only in Fort Lauderdale would a designated driver ram into a bunch of people on a sidewalk.

Brousseau has pleaded the 5th Amendment in response to all questions of fact in the civil case.

A year and a half later, the felony suit drags on with little or no progress.

Some new info. Brousseau and John and Terry Pomerantz, the owners of the vehicle, are being sued by one of the victims, Christina Cavallaro for an amount "in excess of 15,000".

It is so ridiculous when you see a headline of "Porsche kills pedestrian" or "Maserati injures 6" when it is the driver who caused the injury. This is jealous class shaming against people who own higher end cars. You never read about "Toyota takes out family" or "Honda mows down Grandma" but that happens nearly every day and the make of the car is not blamed for the incident.

Nobody is googling for "Person Driving Car Injures 6".
