There's nothing in Fort Lauderdale that illustrates the lawlessness of this city more than Cycle Party. I've just about had it.
Today I turned into the roadway between Royal Pig and Timpano and there it was, once again, parked in the middle of the road. They park there all the time, blocking traffic. slowing traffic, and just being a hazard in general.
Sometimes you'll see someone standing as they ride down the road; how can this be legal?
Those of you who don't know what it is, cycle party is a multiple person cycling vehicle that moves about 10MPH along the normal roadways, barhopping all around town. It's one of the touristy things (is the Duck Tour still operating?) in town, which normally are more charming than annoying. But the Cycle Party has just become an annoyance. When they arrive at the bar where you happen to be, the place will shortly be filled with drunken assholes, like some sort of mini-mobile spring break. Even if you're on foot, they always park right in front of the entrance so you have to take some detour.
Why Are They Allowed To Park Anywhere They Want?
Why don't they have to pay for parking like the rest of us? Why do they get to block roads for 20 minutes at a time? Why don't they need a license plate? Limousines have to park in the back. Why can this thing block the road without any consequences?
We need some REGULATIONS. I know it's an ugly word, but this thing has gotten out of hand.
