Boil Water Advisory

If you still have water running in your home, you might think about saving some of it. And boil it before you drink it.

Some dopey contractor ruptured a main water main and water to the city is off for 24-36 hours. Water service is out, but until they get the pipes all filled with water and conduct tests that confirm its ok, they'll leave it in effect.

Fill up some pots, boil the water and stick it in the fridge. And don't use the ice either. Use those ice cube trays you stored away and use your boiled water to make ice.

This is likely more a precaution than a real threat. You swim in the ocean and swallow water and you don't get sick. You don't disinfect your home every 10 minutes. There are germs everywhere.

Boil water notice states “until further notice” — “until further notice” is not acceptable after 2.5 days of the system up & running again! It was stated that everything would be back to normal 48 hours after the water was back on — so that would be by Saturday afternoon. There should be an announcement that testing has cleared full regular use, or at least state what the timeline is for that to happen.

They won't lift it until they get a good sample, and perhaps the guys who do sampling don't work weekends in the summer? I'm betting first thing Monday they lift it if not today.
