Fort Lauderdale may have more people who can't cook than anyplace else; Im always astonished to see people taking out $16 burgers from restaurants. Are you really so inept you can't make a burger? I took a walk down Las Olas to see who was offering take out.
The clear leader is Cheesecake factory; they've converted their entire operation to take out, and there's a steady stream of people going in and coming out. Their massive take out menu gives you a choice of just about anything you can think of.
On the other hand, Tommy Bahamas / Marlins Bar is completely closed. You can't even buy a shirt. Any notion that this was anything but a bar masquerading as a retail store can be dismissed.
Most other places are open for take out. Bossi, Le Bonne Crepe, Noodles. Hard for me to believe that they can justify opening, some of these places. The Empanada place has signed out but the door is barricaded. I guess you have to call and they bring it out?
Big City is completely closed. No take out service here; at least not for lunch.
Etaru is also completely closed. Who knew they were still open? The Lobster bar claims they'll be opening for Take Out on March 18; can you get the whole fish experience as take out? I can't see taking out expensive seafood or a steak. Royal Pig and Yolo are open for take out.
Something interesting is Del Friscos. They have signs saying they have cocktails and wine. How does that work? They have a 4COP license that only allows them to serve alcohol when they have table service, and the "COP" means "Consume on Premises"; they're not allowed to offer take out drinks.
You'd think a big organization would understand the rules. This is what happens when you have 20-something morons running restaurants.
