President Obama at Rally in Hollywood, Florida

Obama Rally in Hollywood

President Obama held a rally at the football field of MacArthur high school in Hollywood. The sold-out event featured rapper Pit Bull.

The location of the rally can tell you a lot; while Mitt Romney is campaigning in the I-4 corridor, which is where elections are won in Florida, Obama chose to hold a rally in a D+11 district. Broward county is one of the most democratic districts in Florida, which shows that the Obama campaign believes that turning out the Democratic base is the only way that he can win the election.

With a tiny turnout in Ohio, and reports that people started leaving a Virginia rally while Obama was speaking (Bill Clinton had spoken earlier), the President needed a big turnout; so he turned to Democratic stronghold Hollywood, FL. Usually, there's no campaigning in Broward County, which is so Democratic that it's not worth a campaign stop.

While Romney drew an estimated 30,000 in Democratic stronghold Philadelphia, Obama drew 23,000 in Hollywood. Obama is encouraging Democrats to vote; Romney is trying to convince Democrats and Independents to vote for him. Part of Obama's strategy has been to draw crowds and then drive them into early voting locations; however early voting ended Saturday, so anyone who hadn't voted yet will have to wait until Tuesday.

Americans voted for their own demise yesterday. I've lost faith in America. It's such a damn shame.

That is impressive, about as much as if the President went to NYC for a rally. Lower income area of S Florida near the Miami/Broward border, the two most heavily D populated counties? Try in the north central say Flagler County/Alachua. That would impress me.

Just 3 more days and the politics is over. Hang in there.

charging an admission fee for a public political gathering on a high school football field? Groan.

maybe IFL can send over some of the worst-reviewed food to help them all out....

Who said anything about an admission fee? You just need to get a ticket.

It appears that the event is full.

aha. then, consider tightening up your journalistic language and specify Free Tickets if that is the information. It's a bit too vague otherwise...

Either way, Florida and Ohio will decide the fate of the country. Good luck to us all.

I don't know of any definition of Tickets that implies that they cost money. I suggest you bone up on your vocabulary.
