Critic's Review
In Fort Lauderdale we all know about the 24 hour truck stop / Diner, but Lester's has a couple of other locations also. This one in Margate, which I've never been able to distinguish from Coconut Creek, doesn't have the tractor trailers in the parking lot. It's also a lot newer, and a lot less crusty than the ancient original location.
The table across from me wasn't bussed during my entire visit; I didn't see anyone clearing any tables for the entire 40 minutes. They still have the creepy, eye-height mirrors; why do people want to see themselves in a mirror in a diner? The setups are about the same, with the placemat loaded up with local advertising.
The servers here are less ancient; they're not as fast with coffee or the food, but passable. Music ranged from Oasis to Maroon 5; a mix of good and bad. The food is well-prepared; getting breakfast at 2:45pm can be an experience at diners, but this was freshly made.
Another place with bad rye bread; it's like wheat bread with rye seeds and doesn't taste like rye bread at all. Ask for extra butter if you like it because you just get a small yellow smear.
Nothing crazy, but for $10.25 with tip as good a breakfast as you'll get at most places. Unlike Fort Lauderdale, which is open 24/7/365, this location opens at 6am and closes at midnight.
