Same dump, new name. This was the Northridge Raw Bar. Under new ownership, its the same place with the same food and same kitchen staff.
I saw an ad that described this place as a "new swanky sports lounge" so I was surprised to see that everything was so old. There's a room with some old-style red leather club chairs and couches; I guess thats the lounge. The place is done is plank wood paneling and there a wrap-around bar the joins with the main dining room. The chairs at the bar are low back, so leaning back can be uncomfortable and dangerous. There are 42" TVs all along the bar and some larger ones in the back of the dining room.
One good thing is that they have the sound of the main game playing through the bar's sound system. At peak lunch time on a college game day Saturday, there are 4 people in the place. Clearly all long time regulars and friends of the bartender. You're not meeting any cute chicks in this place.
They have the same menu as the old Northridge raw bar, with advertisements claiming that the "examiner" rated their wings the "best in town". Of course the examiner isn't a real publication, and I couldn't find any such article. It was probably 10 years ago. Clearly they're milking it for as long as they can. I ordered the "fire grilled" wings, which my server said were rolled in hot sauce and sprayed with garlic. So I was surprised when they arrived; they have chopped garlic all over them.
The wings are a good sized portion, and after knocking off the garlic I'd say they weren't bad. Anything fire grilled is pretty good. But the best in town? Poppycock. Maybe the best in the shopping center. Nothing really special.
Note that blue cheese and celery are not included for the $8 price; you'll pay an extra $1.25 for it. It would have been nice if my server filled me in.
