Maxie's is sort of a 50's style burger or Malt joint; i'm not old enough to know which. I guess the decor is fun for kids; it certainly doesn't do anything for me.
But there aren't too many places in boca where you can get a cheap snack; and even fewer where you can get a good Chicago hot dog. A Char Dog Chicago Style is a whopping $3.28 here, which is the same as getting it for free in Boca Raton.
This is a pretty messy eat; which I think is part of the point. The pickles here are a very mild dill pickle; right in-between a plain cuke and a full blown dill. The short peppers were wholly edible, unlike the raw ones I encountered at a couple of other places. With full disclosure, I was starving when I ate this. But I enjoyed this dog. It was messy and good.
