Critic's Review
"Roadside taco stands" are the way to go in Mexico; could these food truck people do the same? Yesterday I was going to try Loko's Tacos until I saw the menu and decided the prices were too high to justify the trip. This place is the opposite of Loko's; there are no bells or whistles at this place.
They have a window with a steel cage and a lock on it; they don't use the window. Obviously they want to woo you with their elaborate decor; inside there's a dreary hallway leading to a dreary cashier station.
I ordered 3 tacos; steak, chorizo and pork "asado". I pull out my CC and the girl points to a sign saying that there's a $10 minimum for credit cards. I'm not buying 5 tacos, so I have to pay in cash.
It took 15 minutes to make the tacos, which was annoying. I checked them out in the car, but this was too busy to try to eat in the car. I'd wait until I got home.
Once I separated everything I could see what I had a bit better; they were pretty cheap with the salsa and they did a half-assed job cutting the cucumber and radishes. Not that I was going to eat either of them
The sauce was spicy but I can't say that I liked it. None of the meats had much taste; bland, bland bland. The chorizo didn't taste like any kind of sausage at all. The asada was completely tasteless. It could have been chicken.
All in all it was a good amount of food for $6, but I'm surprised by the lack of flavor. These could have been very good with better spicing for the meat.
Conclusion
You can't go wrong for $2 per taco with every ripoff place in town charging $4-5. Nothing bad about the tacos, but nothing really good either.
Also, there's virtually no place to eat in here; they could have put some tables on the porch or something. Not that I would have used them but this is take out only.
