Critic's Review
Las Vegas Cuban Cuisine is a chain with as unlikely a name as you will find for a Cuban restaurant. This particular location even has a drive thru; one of the advantages of taking over a fast food restaurant.
The interior of these restaurants are all eerily the same, with big cheesy murals, cheap laminate tables and bad elevator music playing; this location doesn't even have a TV. There are a lot of people speaking spanish as a pretty high volume.
The dining experience here defines the low end; with red plastic "Pizza Hut" glasses and paper napkin rollups. The bread is sort of a pressed garlic cuban bread, which is actually pretty darn good.
All of these Cuban places have lunch specials, which I've learned are rarely worth ordering. They give you a lower price, and also a smaller portion. I was in the mood for some Ropa Vieja; they have it as the lunch special on Wednesday for $7.95, but the regular price is $9.95. This is also the first place that offered to swap out the plantains for some vegetables.
They're not afraid to use spices in this place. The beans weren't the usual bland, and the Ropa was very flavorful. The food was pretty good. $1.50 for iced tea, although they only have limes. Not a bad lunch for $12.
