Critic's Review
The Blue Plate is a diner-style restaurant located inside the Hard Rock Hotel. Its open 24 hours and they serve breakfast all day. So being the breakfast junkie that I am, I opted to have an afternoon breakfast rather than dealing with the food court.
They seemed a bit disorganized. The hostess didn't seem to know where the non-smoking section was. No server claimed my table. Eventually someone walking by asked if anyone had helped me yet. "No Ma'am". Ok, I'll help you. I asked for coffee. I ordered the 2-2-2-2, which is 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, 2 sausage links and 2 strips of bacon. At $9. it seemed like a better deal than the eggs and sausage straight up.
A few things I didn't like about the menu. Toast is $2 extra. So its $10 for 2 eggs with bacon or sausage. They also didn't have coffee listed, so I expected a $4 charge on the bill. It took here quit a while to bring the coffee. But they give you your own pot, half and half in a pitcher, and they have splenda.
The food arrived and I was surprised by the size of the pancakes.
When they delivered it, the pancakes were on top of the eggs. There was really no way of putting syrup on this without ruining the eggs. I had pulled the pancakes off of the eggs to take the pictures. My server happened to walk by and I asked her to get me another plate for the pancakes. It took her a while, but finally she brought it and I could start eating.
The sausages are the good plump kind here, and the miniature eggs were fine. I'm not a real pancake eater and I expected smaller ones, but these were good. I can't complain about the portions or the food, but it would have been nice to get some toast. I can't pay $2 for toast.
The service was dismal, but overall not a bad place for breakfast.
