Critic's Review
The Pool at the Seminole Hard Rock is one of the nicest in the area; I suspect that a lot of people at the pool aren't staying at the hotel.
It's basically the pool bar at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel, but it's bigger to the point where they call it The Beach Club. Of course it's not really a club, and you don't have to be staying at the hotel to eat or drink at the bar.
I was hoping that they'd have the Yankees-Mets game on, since it was on TBS, but the TVs outside are hard coded to ESPN. TVs throughout the hotel were fixed on Soccer. You'd think that a place this size would have someone monitoring whats showing; what's the point of having TVs if you just leave them on random channels and you can't put on what your customers want to watch?
The bar isn't as high class as most of the hotel; its pretty seedy actually. But they do have a bad ass sound system, cranking out Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, the Who and the Five Man Electrical Band.
I ordered the Grouper Tacos, which come with 1 side. I opted for Cole Slaw.
There's a nice pool view.
I'm not sure why I keep ordering cole slaw, since it's almost never very good. I guess it's because I don't want french fries. The tacos weren't terrible, but they didn's seem to have much substance. The menu says that they had pico de gallo, but there was so little that it could barely be detected. I also didn't taste much sour cream.
The tray they serve them in keeps them closed up, so after I finished 2 of them I dumped the tray and opened one up. The trick here is that they fill the taco up with lettuce, then put a little finger of fish on and cover it with cheese.
I doubt if there was more than 2 ounces of fish on the 3 of these. Some more Pico would have made them better. $4 for a can of beer; $15. for a snack by the pool. No eye candy here on a Hot Sunday. Can't watch the game. Kind of a waste of time.
