Gran Forno is the bakery that many stores and restaurants use as a supplier for their bakery goods; the good news is that its also a retail venue where you can get some coffee and a pastry. Its also not a bad place to sit and talk while having yourself an enjoyable continental breakfast or light lunch.

The place features welcoming decor, and lots of small tables suitable for 2 or 3 people. The counter is stacked with all sorts of treats; tarts stuffed with fruit, freshly made croissants, cookies. Its a dieter's nightmare. It all looks so good.

After much consideration, I opted for a Ricotta Cheese Tart, a 4" round which is like a small cheesecake. Its way too much for 1 normal sized person. And not a bad deal for $5.

Granforno food

Gran Forno is a bit off the beaten path, but they get pretty good crowds on Sunday morning. If you're in the mood for a pastry or even just a big fluffy croissant its worth the short jaunt east for a little indulgence.

...I went there today to buy a sandwich for lunch. However the posted prices for coffee were not being honored. the lady in front of me ordered a medium cappucino posted price on menu on the wall was $3.95 but the cash register rung up $4.50 (with tax $4.77) and the staff would not honor prices posted. They said the manager changed prices in the register. So I walked out and they lost my business.

They have great chocolate chip cookies, recently a rep left a box at our office and they were superb. I work close by and occasionally break down on way to the office and indulge myself, usually an almond croissant and a latte. It's a little pricey but it IS Las Olas after all. Anything I have had from them has been great. I wou8ld suggest they add a LARGE option to their coffee. There is meter parking and you can usually get a spot close by.

We need to stop with the "It IS Las Olas". It's what the restaurants want you to think. Rents on Las Olas are 1/5 to 1/10 of NYC rents, so why are we paying NYC prices? You've just been brainwashed into paying a lot for mediocre food. Some of these older places are paying very low rent. Even newer places are only paying $17/ft in some cases.
