Christmas on Las Olas was last night and the turnout was just plain crazy. This event was once just attended by local, downtown residents but now people come from far and wide. Unfortunately, the capitalists saw fit to set up tents in the middle of the Blvd making the large crowd seem ridiculously unbearable.
Snow machines shot snow from rooftops creating as much of a winter feel as possible on a 78 degree night. It was nearly impossible to get a drink; the lines were very long and the bars were packed. If you were willing to pay $14 for a glass of wine at Johnny V or Rare Las Olas the crowds were less in those venues.
After realizing that I wasn't going to be dealing with the massive lines on the Great Lawn, I found my way east of Federal near YOLO where the Tree had finally been lit. The crowds were less there; and the lights on Las Olas were truly inspiring. They really did a nice job decorating our city.
No more from me. Pictures tell the story better than I can. Enjoy the Gallery.
