Critic's Review
I had to get my oil changed at Vista BMW, and this place is just down Lyon's road, so I grabbed some breakfast before my appointment.
Despite it's name and appearance, this place is basically a diner. The hostess is also a server, so there's a certain disconnect in getting seated. It was 10:10 am when I got there, so not really out of normal breakfast hours. The girl told me to 'sit anywhere' without giving me a menu, which is unusual in a place this large.
She did find me after a few minutes; grab a menu on your way in so you don't have to sit at a table waiting. I ordered coffee and she brought that in a few minutes. Not your efficient diner-type operation where you get coffee 5 seconds after you sit down.
The place is a big open room with 3 big flat screen TVs. A few booths, but not a lot of privacy anywhere in the restaurant.
An older guy at the next table ask for some 'Deli Mustard', to which the server simply tilted his head. They all started yelling different thing to clarify "Spicy Mustard"..finally he caught on and brought them some Gulden's.
I wasn't feeling adventurous so I just ordered my regular breakfast. It came out looking just fine.
I'd ordered rye toast, but these was some sort of multi-grain. It had rye sees, so I figured it was the closest I was going to get.
Not rye bread, but with a load of butter who can tell anyway? Salt and pepper and everything was just fine.
No ticket on the table when I was done; not really a diner. Not bad for under $10 with tax.
Conclusion
What we have here is a diner concept without the diner-like machinery in place. Kind of a clunky operation, but it feels a little more like a restaurant than a grind them out diner. Probably the best you'll do in this area, and a perfectly OK breakfast.
